The NRFA holds Naturalised Daily (NDF) and Monthly mean Flow (NMF) series for some gauging stations. Where naturalised daily flows exist for a gauging station, the option to view this data will be available on the Time Series tab of the station data page.
Definition
The naturalised discharge is the gauged river flow adjusted to take account of net abstractions and discharges upstream of the gauging station.
Computation and Accuracy
Flow naturalisation techniques vary between gauging stations, reflecting the differing artificial influences that must be taken account of. The NRFA may be able to provide further information regarding the computation of individual naturalised flow series.
