NRFA staff members Katie Muchan and Stephen Turner attended Flood & Coast 2017 at the Telford International Centre on the 28th-30th March 2017. Led by the Environment Agency, the event drew together key stakeholders from the flood and coastal erosion risk management (FCRM) community, including local authorities, infrastructure owners, consultancies, contractors, businesses, community groups and universities.
The Centre for Ecology & Hydrology and Wallingford HydroSolutions were exhibiting at the event, talking to delegates about all aspects of our flooding research activities, in particular the Flood Estimation Handbook and FEH Web Service.
Delegates were interested to hear about the NRFA as a source of river flow data for the UK and the ability to access our peak flow data holdings for use with the Flood Estimation Handbook techniques. There was also interest in the publication of our report on the winter 2015/2016 floods. PDF copies available here or you can email nhmp@ceh.ac.uk for a printed copy.
There was also the opportunity to attend talks at the conference including "Valuing our data - How we best use and share it?", "Flood visualisation in a digital world" and "Natural flood allieviation - realising the potential".
More information can be found on the Flood & Coast 2017 website.
